SEATTLE, Wash. — Kent Menendez could be in line for a Fourth of July he won\’t soon forget.

The golfer is one shot behind the leader in Level 5, Division 4 stroke play at Willows Run Golf Course. Kent has remained steady through the first two rounds, shooting a 79 on Day 1 and 82 on Day 2.

Kent\’s involvement with Special Olympics Southern California is partly due to his sister.

\”She did a lot of research,\” said Kent, who has ADHD. \”I thought it was for people who mainly had Down syndrome, but it turned out it\’s for people with all kind of disabilities.

\”Without her, none of this would have been possible.\”

The relationships with his fellow athletes and the coaches have been the most enjoyable aspect for Kent, who has been part of SOSC for two years.
