Track and field athlete James Morrell is intent on making the most of his opportunity this July at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle.

Regardless of the results, he will be satisfied knowing he put forth his best effort.

\”It means a lot,\” James said. \”It\’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I don\’t know if I\’ll ever get it again, so I might as well try and go down swinging if I don\’t win.\”

James, who has autism, said the best part of Special Olympics is the \”display (of) everyone\’s capabilities.\” He\’s not just thinking about himself in that situation, either.

With fellow athletes who compete with the aid of crutches or a wheelchair, James sees the big picture and the platform Special Olympics provides to athletes of various abilities.

\”This is an opportunity for them to try their best,\” he added.
