2019 World Games: March 19 Round-up

Special Olympics Southern California athletes continued to rake in the awards for Special Olympics USA at the 2019 World Games on Tuesday.

Jonathan Pierce capped his World Games journey with a bronze medal in the men\’s 100-meter freestyle swim, clocking in at 59.96 seconds. That gave him three medals for the Games, including a pair of gold medals earlier in the competition.

On the track, Tyrone Garrett picked up his first award after finishing fourth in the 100-meter run with a time of 17.23 seconds. He put forth a strong showing, finishing just 0.17 seconds out of medal contention.

After two days of divisioning, Faith Demos and the rest of the golfers began the two-day medal round. Demos, playing in the 9-hole competition, posted a score of 71 for the round.

Meanwhile, official tennis results for the day have yet to be posted, but Mark Hanson won a silver and Krystal Johnson earned bronze in their respective singles competitions.
